This article can be read in about 4 minutes to read.

This is said to be the first ever dam photo book published by Mr. Hagiwara. The first volume focused on eastern Japan, but it was so well received that a second volume, "Dam 2 (dum dum)," focusing on western Japan, was published. The second volume is called "Dum Dum" instead of "Dum Two. How cute.

The contents of the book are excellent, with photographs that make you feel as if you have been to the dam in question, and it also includes a small explanation and a glossary of dam terms.

The binding is stylish and cool, and the two books satisfy my desire to own them. 2012 saw the publication of the first volume in paperback size, and even in e-book format, but I personally prefer the earlier miniature photo book size (170mm x 190mm). However, it is a pity that it is currently only available in used books. In addition, "Dam 2" also includes the now-defunct Arase Dam, which may be considered valuable.

Incidentally, Mr. Hagiwara mentioned at an online talk event that he used entry-level equipment for this photo book, rather than high-end equipment. I was able to reaffirm my conviction that good equipment does not necessarily make a photo book, and cheap equipment does not necessarily make it bad, and more than anything, I feel personally encouraged by this.
