The dam that goes and the dam that comes 2021-2022 Dam log
This article can be read in about 16 minutes to read.

The year 2020 brought an unprecedented situation unprecedented in human history, and although I thought it would end after a year, the Omicron strain has recently been raging around the world, and we are still unable to return to the world as usual. I am fed up with the severe situation, but personally, I go to Yaotsu Town once a week for my main job, which makes it very easy for me to visit the Maruyama Dam.

After the fall, the number of infected people began to settle down, and I gradually resumed my dam tours. Although the situation is not satisfactory by any means, I think it was a year in which I was able to enjoy myself to a certain extent, despite the small number of dams I visited as in the previous year.

Let's take a look back at what another year of dam tours has been like.

2021/1/3: Jishu Shrine

It is not a dam out of the blue, but we made a Hatsumode (New Year's visit) to the Josui Shrine as we did last year. This year, a campaign to give away good luck charms was also held.

2021/1/5: Scheduled construction site of Kawabe Dam, Mizunase Dam, and Maruyama Dam

Visited the planned construction sites of Kawabe and Mizunase dams in the neighboring town of Kawabe for work in the town of Yaotsu. I also visited the Maruyama Dam. Unexpectedly, this was my first visit to a dam.

2021/1/31: Onshi Pond, Yahagi No. 2 Dam, and Yahagi Dam

We visited Okazaki's Onshi Pond while inspecting our car at the car dealership. We also tried to visit Shin-ike Pond, which was supposed to be close by, but gave up because we could not find the route. We then visited Yahagi No. 2 Dam and Yahagi Dam, although it was an odd route.

2021/2/4: Taniyama Disaster Prevention Reservoir, Manada Disaster Prevention Reservoir, Maruyama Dam

On the way to work, I visited Taniyama Disaster Prevention Reservoir and Manada Disaster Prevention Reservoir, which I had not yet visited due to my work in Yaotsu-cho that day. In addition, I also went to Maruyama Dam.

2021/2/17: Kamiida Regulating Pond and Maruyama Dam

Two weeks later, I stopped by the Kamiiida Adjustment Pond for work in the town of Yaotsu. It had been a long time since my last visit, but I was able to take a good look around. And then, of course, the Maruyama Dam.

2021/4/2: Maruyama Dam

On this day, I visited Maruyama Dam on my way to and from Yaotsu-cho for company business. However, I visited Maruyama Dam as many times as I have this year.

2021/7/15: Maruyama Dam

From this day on, I will be going to Yaotsu Town every week, and naturally, I will be posting more about Maruyama Dam.

2021/7/21: Maruyama Dam

2021/8/6: Maruyama Dam

2021/8/11: Maruyama Dam

2021/8/31: Maruyama Dam

This was my first insta-live delivery. I am not used to live streaming yet, but I hope to do so in the future.

2021/9/3: Maruyama Dam

On this day, the insula live show scheduled for the morning was cancelled due to urgent business, so I made a hurried delivery at Maruyama Dam on my way home from work. Two streams, one from the observatory and the other from the Kowasawa Bridge downstream. However, it was tough to deliver in the dark because of the lack of focus...

2021/9/7: Maruyama Dam

For this day's live streaming at the Maruyama Dam, we set up a tripod on the passenger seat of a car and moved from the observation deck to the downstream of the dam. This may be a valuable video now that the observatory is closed.

2021/10/5: Kaneyama Dam, Imawatari Dam, and Maruyama Dam

Before going to work in Yaotsu, I climbed up to the ruins of Kanayama Castle in Kani City. It was not so much a visit to the dam as a view of the distant dam from the top of the mountain where the castle ruins are located, but it was quite a spectacular view. On the way back, I stopped by Maruyama Dam.

2021/10/7: Kaneyama Dam and Imawatari Dam

We liked it so much at the Kanayama Castle Ruins the week before that we did an installment on this day.

2021/10/9: Serikawa Dam, Inukami Dam, Uso River Dam, and Eigenji Dam

More than two weeks have passed since the second inoculation of the new coronavirus vaccine, and since the state of emergency has been declared, I resumed my tour of dams across the prefectural border. Since it had been a while since I last visited a dam, I tried to take it easy.

2021/10/14: Manada Disaster Prevention Reservoir, Imawatari Dam

On this day, I stopped by the dam before my work in Yaotsu-cho. I did a live streaming at the Manada Disaster Prevention Reservoir. In the evening, I was supposed to deliver a live stream at Imawatari Dam, but Docomo had a massive communication problem, so I couldn't do anything, not even deliver a live stream... (It was too dark to deliver a live stream anyway.)

2021/10/22: Kaneyama Dam, Imawatari Dam, and Oi Dam

On this day, too, we went to the ruins of Kanayama Castle in the morning. At night, we went to Oi Dam, although it was the opposite direction of our return. It would be better to take pictures in the middle of the night because there are many cars flying over both Shin-Tononome and Shin-Tonome bridges...

2021/10/26: Maruyama Dam

この日は”仕事の途中”で丸山ダムに立ち寄りました。

2021/10/31: Serikawa Dam

We were informed that the dam might overflow because it had been flooded after a trial flooding after the major renovation in 2022, but the result was....... But it was fun to see dam enthusiasts for the first time in a while.

2021/11/4: Maruyama Dam

2021/11/6: Kawakami Dam, Takayama Dam, and Awei River Dam

On this day, we visited Kawakami Dam, which we had not visited since before the construction of the main body of the dam because we were not selected to participate in the special tour before the test flooding, and Mitechodai (viewing platform) was closed. We visited the Kawakami Dam, which had not been visited since before the construction of the main body of the dam, as it was closed. We also visited the Takayama Dam along the way.

2021/11/11: Kuroda Dam, Tominaga Dam, and Yahagi Dam

On this day, Mr. Hagiwara of the infrastructure-related YouTube channel SiphonTV invited us to visit the Yahagi Dam. Before that, we visited Kuroda Dam and Tominaga Dam for the first time in a while. At each dam, we also had a live-streaming session.

2021/11/23: Daimon Dam, Shirakawa Dam, and Tenri Dam

On the way back from picking up the bicycle I won on Yahoo! Auctions, I stopped by Daimon Dam, Shirakawa Dam, and Tenri Dam. I visited the Daimon Dam when it was test-flooded, and it was the first time for me to enter the top of the dam since I was not allowed to enter the top at that time. This was my first visit to the Shirakawa Dam. When I posted about the Tenri Dam on Instagram, I wrote that it had been 20 years since I had visited, but when I checked, it had actually been 16 years.

2021/11/24: Maruyama Dam

On this day, I stopped by Maruyama Dam on business in the town of Yaotsu.

2021/11/27: Kosibu Dam, Miwa Dam, Takato Dam, Katagiri Dam

2021/12/3: Maruyama Dam

I was also working in Yaotsu-cho that day, but I learned that the right bank observation deck would be closed due to the construction of the new Maruyama Dam, so I enjoyed the observation deck.

2021/12/10: Maruyama Dam

While working in the town of Yaotsu, I stopped by the Maruyama Dam observatory in the morning and at night.

2021/12/16: Maruyama Dam

The last Maruyama Dam observatory. It is hard for anyone to have to say goodbye.

2021/12/21: Maruyama Dam and Kori River Dam

This is the Maruyama Dam seen from downstream after a long time since the observatory was closed. On the one hand, it is sad, but on the other hand, it raises expectations for the new observatory. On the way home that day, we also went to see the lighting up of the Kori River Dam.

2021/12/22: Maruyama Dam and Kori River Dam

After nightfall in Yaotsu-cho for the second day in a row, I went to see the illumination of the Kosatogawa Dam via the Maruyama Dam.

2021/12/28: Maruyama Dam

This was the last visit to Maruyama Dam this year. The snow from the night before made for a snowy scene.

This year, I visited 58 dams, including duplicates. Of those, I somehow visited the Maruyama Dam 21 times. I will be working in Yaotsu once a week for a while, so I hope to be able to keep an eye on the progress of the construction of the new Maruyama Dam as well as the Maruyama Dam.

New development is 7 units. We would like to add a few more new ones. There are many unknowns about what will happen with the new coronavirus, but I pray that next year I will be able to tour dams normally and without any worries.

Well then, I wish you all a happy New Year. Please look forward to working with Dampedia and Kamima in the coming year.
