In many ways, sorry if I got your hopes up!
Concrete pouring at Kawaura Kurambe Dam (H4.11)
The Kawaura Kurambe Dam is located upstream of the Kami-Osu Dam. The dam lake formed by the Kawaura Dam and this dam together is the upper regulating reservoir (Upper Pond), and the dam lake formed by the Kami-Osu Dam is the lower regulating reservoir (Lower Pond), and pumped storage power is generated between them. The effective drop-off is said to be as high as 486 meters.
Incidentally, the photo is a photo panel installed at the dam site of the Kamioosu Dam. Kawaura Kurambe Dam, like Kawaura Dam, is not accessible by private vehicles. Although it has not been confirmed yet, the road to Kawaura Dam seems to be in a dangerous state due to heavy rains, and is not open to the public.
From downstream of Kawaura Kurambe Dam (H6.8)
Among dam enthusiasts, Kawaura Dam and Kawaura Kurambe Dam have long been "phantom dams" because no one has seen them. We hope that Chubu Electric Power Company will allow us to visit them....
