We came here in the pouring rain, deep in the mountains of Ise. It's quite deep in the mountains, but the atmosphere is outstanding!

If only it hadn't been raining, it would have been better, but anyway, it is a miserable shooting environment. This is not because I am a rain man, but rather because I am in an area where it rains a lot (...probably). There was construction work going on at the dike to add a selective water intake system. The schedule is to finish in 2006, so perhaps the levee may look a little different now.

I only have the impression that it was deep in the mountains, but since I was concerned about the rain, I was not in a position to look around much.

There was an aquarium near the control center, and the fish were being eaten by the ornaments in it, and more of them.

It is evident that it was quite a difficult task. This picture shows how hard the Miyagawa Dam is working. The word "hard work" fits the image of the dam releasing all the gates. A dam that protects lives. That is the Miyagawa Dam. However, after viewing this panel, you will be shocked.

This is a selective intake facility under construction at the time. By selecting only the layer of high-quality water from the water in the dam lake, which varies in quality depending on the depth of the water, it is expected to improve the ecosystem in the downstream area. This is a reconstruction project that not only protects human life, but also takes nature into consideration.

It is a magnificent construction, but a close-up view shows that it is quite a bold construction. It is made by drilling a steel frame into the embankment. This is surprising.

A large aquarium is located on the left bank. Unfortunately, I do not know the names of the fish, but they are probably carp, crucian carp, or other freshwater fish that live in the Miyagawa River.

It looks like an aquarium, but it is raining outside...

Typhoon Claw Tracks

Typhoon Claw Tracks

These are the claw marks from Typhoon No. 21 in 2004. The slope on the left bank has completely collapsed.

You can see the magnitude of the collapse when compared to the embankment. Was this collapsed area a plaza?

Despite all this damage, the sub-dam does not appear to have suffered any major damage.

Other facilities/observations

The area is full of nature, and there is even a campground. In addition, there are 1,000 cherry trees planted around the dam lake, and a sightseeing boat on the dam lake...it has become a tourist attraction, but I could not feel the atmosphere in this weather. I would like to go back on a fine day.
