The public is not allowed to enter the Kassa Dam.We are pleased to participate in the "4th Dam Web Ring Kassa Dam Off-line Meeting" and this event was made possible by the cooperation of Denpatsu Kaihatsu (hereinafter referred to as Denpatsu). So, you will access to Kassa Dam from the road at the back of Mitsumata area parking lot of Kagura Ski Resort.

Kassa Dam was off-limits, but is now accessible only during the ropeway operation period. The Tashiro ropeway is in operation during the fall foliage and ski season, while the Naeba Dora Gondola is in operation during the fresh green and fall foliage season. (As of April 2021).

Gate Passage

Gate Passage

We arrived here in the microbus of Denpatsu-sama. We have just entered the no-entry zone. The public can come up to this gate. There are women on the other side of the gate, who are probably farmers or wild vegetable collectors.

After a short drive along the mountain road, we saw the embankment in front of us! Everyone cheered. It was not raining, but the weather was bad, so the picture was not good.

Downstream outlet

Basically, the water is provided by pumped storage power generation between the lower dam and the Futai Dam, so probably very little water is released from here. Therefore, the area is overgrown with vegetation.

Can you see the size of the embankment compared to a person or a microbus?

A small elevation is provided on the left bank, from which you can look down on the embankment and dam lake from a little higher up.

Like the Nii Dam, the color of the dam lake is a beautiful emerald green.

It is basically unvisited, and the top end is a gravel road with no fence.

The Tashiro area of the Kagura ski resort can be seen on the other side, and lifts and other facilities can be seen. Of course, the dam can be seen from the ski resort.

stone monument

stone monument

There is a rather fine stone monument, although it is basically not supposed to be visited by people. It just probably used the handwriting of a great person, but the letters that say "Cassadam" are cute.

If he falls, it is not likely to be a bloodbath.

That is the water intake for power generation that takes water to the Futai Dam.

It is mountains as far as the eye can see. And it is cloudy.

The top end is a little difficult to walk on because of the gravel road.

Flood discharge

Flood discharge

Free overflow type attached to the right bank.Flood dischargeThe company is not expected to make much use of it. It looks like it will not be utilized much as it is almost completely used for power generation. The Styrofoam-like snow in the foreground is leftover snow, even though it is June. That is how deep in the mountains and snow the area is.

A hole in a flood discharge! And it is quite an angle and quite scary.

Since this is pumped storage power generation, the transition is expected to be highly variable.

It hurts when you fall down (enough said...)
