Funaaki Dam is the lowest dam on the Tenryu River, once feared as the "Violent Tenryu. It is also the meeting place of the Sakuma Dam off-line meeting (January 25, 2004). We were told to leave immediately after the meeting, so we hurriedly started taking pictures after arrival. Nine roller gates were lined up in an orderly fashion.

The weather looks very mild in these pictures, but in reality it was very freezing cold. The wind blowing from the Southern Alps was very painful.

The left bank is lined with cherry blossom trees, and I thought it would be very crowded during the cherry blossom viewing season. I thought it would be very crowded during the cherry blossom viewing season.

The power plant can be seen in the back. Since this is downstream, you can see the drainage outlet.

As you can see, the top edge is open to automobile traffic. It is not narrow at all, so you can separate without any problem. The small figures on the left are MBS crew members.

The surrounding area is an athletic park, and there were joggers and others. Since there were quite a few people there, I felt a little uneasy because I did not know who were the participants of the off-line meeting. In addition, I mistook the people from MBS for off-line meeting participants... (shame).

  1. [...] 2013/1/1: Tokuyama Dam at night. Weather clear. I remember stopping by on my way home from dropping off my wife and child at her parents' house. So Tokuyama Dam was my first visit to the dam. 1/19/2013: Nagara River estuary weir. The weather was fine. Meeting for a non-dam project. 1/26: A certain pond, Toyourayama Pond, and Takayama Reservoir. On the way to the Kansai Dam Friendship Association, I dropped in with my friend, Masutaa. We were bewildered by his good health. Next year, I want to train myself (at the dam). 1/27: Dam mania lecture by Dr. Miyajima at the Chunichi Culture Center in Sakae, Nagoya. Weather was fine. I also attended the evening lecture. 2/3: Yasu River Dam, Zao Dam, Seido Dam, and Nikkei Dam. We all went together! Weather fine or cloudy? Cloudy? I couldn't go to Hakuna Matata at this time because I had to go to a dealer in Obu for an oil change. 2/10: The second part of the dam mania lecture by Dr. Miyajima at the Chunichi Culture Center in Sakae, Nagoya. Weather was fine. I also attended the evening lecture. 2/11: Ohara Dam, Aodo Dam, Yasu River Dam, Zao Dam, Hinogawa Dam, and for some reason Amagase Dam. The weather was snowy. Mr. Miyajima and I went on a tour of the dams. We had lunch at Hakuna Matata. 2/23: The 1st meeting with dam enthusiasts at the Agigawa Dam. The weather was snowy until the day before. Miraculously sunny on the day. I also gave a presentation. Come to think of it, I haven't given a presentation since then (sweat). One day: Iwakura Dam and Shin-Toyone Dam. I went to get an instruction manual for the dam card. The weather was fine. Oh, yes. I heard that my picture is displayed at the Shin-Toyone Dam administration office, so please take a look at it if you go there. 3/24: "To go get my helmet" Ichinoki Dam, Sarutani Dam, Kazaya Dam, Okusato Dam, Asahi Dam, Nanashiki Dam, and Ikehara Dam. Weather clear. I wonder if Mr. Eero is still doing well after getting carsick from driving on the severe road No. 425. 3/30: Funaki Dam, Akiba Dam, and Sakuma Dam. Weather is cloudy. We took photos for a wedding reception. 4/20: Anegawa Dam. It was an entertainment practice for a wedding reception. Weather was cloudy. 60KHz group's power was great. 4/29: Hirono Dam, Futatsuya Diversion Weir, Masutani Dam, and Eiheiji Dam. Weather was cloudy. We did not have any particular business, but went around the dams almost as a day-trip sightseeing tour. I would like to visit Eiheiji again for sightseeing. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of Ichijodani. On the way home, I soaked in the hot spring at La Posse Kawada, and had some rice cooked in a pot in Sabae. 5/5: Tokuyama Dam, Yokoyama Dam, Kuse Dam, and Nishidaira Dam. Weather was fine. It was a sightseeing discharge at Tokuyama Dam. Thank you for everything. 5/6: Inabe Great Pond. This is completely for small water gods. The weather was cloudy. We were on our way to play at Inabe Park because they wanted to play in the park. 5/18: Haranoya Dam and Ojiro Farmland Disaster Prevention Dam. Weather was fine. It was a practice for a wedding ceremony. In a sense, it was a legend. 5/19: Nishino waterway. Weather was rainy. It wasn't a dam, but it was the final practice for a wedding reception. It wasn't a dam, but it was fun. 5/25: Shimojogawa Dam, Hayadegawa Headworks, Hayadegawa Dam, Agegawa Dam, Uchikura Dam. Weather was fine. It was a certain wedding. I attended as a Christian water god (a mystery). Miraculous photos of Uchikura Dam, as if I had released the water. May 26: Tainai No. 2 Dam, Oishi Dam, Iwafune Dam, and Akashiba Dam. Weather was fine. The day after the wedding & reception. We had one foot in Niigata and one foot in Yamagata Prefecture, but gave up because it looked like we would end up in Fukushima if we let our desires take us there. 6/1: Nagashino weir, Uren dam, and Oshima dam. Weather was cloudy. Uren and Oshima were the 2nd gathering with dam enthusiasts. The inside of the embankment of Uren Dam was tasteful. I would like to see Oshima from directly downstream. Oh, and a precious ritual was performed to pray for rain by a water god to the water god of Uren Dam. 6/2: Magajo Dam and Koshido Dam. The Magajo Dam for the first time in several years. The weather was cloudy. We finally met Magajo Dam. But this year the water volume was so low that we couldn't see the scale discharge. Well, we can go back next year. At Koshido Dam, we had a good time with everyone downstream. 6/8: Shintaki no Ike, Taki no Ike, Inakura Ike, and Eiraku Dam. Weather clear. On the way to the Kansai Dam Friendship Club, we made a quick tour of the dams in Hannan. There are too many dams in that area that I haven't visited yet... 6/15: Unazuki Dam in Unazuki, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Weather is rainy. Everyone gathered for a TV taping. This program was replayed yesterday. However, it was raining steadily. 6/16: Dashihira Dam and Koyadaira Dam. Weather cloudy. The day after Unazuki. I took the Kurobe Gorge Railway and shot from the car. It seems impossible to take a satisfactory picture without climbing a mountain. But Kosuigami seemed to be happy to ride on the trolley, which he had longed for. He was sleeping on the return trip. 7/6: Anno Dam and Kimigano Dam. The weather was cloudy. We went to the drought-stricken Anno Dam to perform a rain-making ceremony. And dressed as a Christian water god. However, the original purpose was to photograph material for a congratulatory message for a certain person. 7/13: Numamoto Dam and Shiroyama Dam. (Weather: light rain → rainy) I went to the Dam Mania exhibition. I was going to listen to a presentation, but the place was packed and I couldn't even enter the venue. However, our original purpose was to witness a congratulatory message from a certain person. 7/15: Arima Dam and Urayama Dam. Weather was fine. I really wanted to visit more dams, but gave up for various reasons. 7/27: Managawa Dam. Weather was fine. While everyone else was going to the Kosibu Dam, I went to the Managawa Dam, which I had never been to before for Morimizu's event. I had a short talk with Mr. Yozaru. However, Kosuijin was carsick and gave up the rest of his schedule. 8/3: Arimine Dam, Sukenobu Dam, Oguchi River Dam, Omata Dam, Kumanogawa Dam, Kamiichi Dam, Kamiji Dam, and Kami san Dam. Weather clear. A tour of the Arimine Dam, the emperor of the Hokuriku Electric Power Company. Anyway, it was good. Toyama is a treasure house of hydraulic power. But still, what is "omatadamu" for "sukebe-no-damu"? 8/4: Yatsuo Dam, Muromaki Dam, Nakayama Dam, and Sarukoshi Dam. The weather was rainy, and I didn't know that R471 was a bad road... 8/16: Fujikogawa Dam and Ijira Reservoir. Weather was cloudy. I picked up my wife on the way back home. 10/6: Kiso Dam, Joban Dam, Makio Dam, Misogawa Dam, Nagawawatari Dam, and Niu River Dam. The weather was unusually nice and sky blue. 11/9: Teradani Pond, Takeya Pond, Mado Dam, Kawakami Dam construction site, and Seirenji Dam. Weather was cloudy. The Kizu River has a history of flood control. Water utilization is important, but please take care of flood control as well. 11/17: Maze River No. 2 Dam and Iwaya Dam. Weather is cloudy. Went for a drive to see the autumn leaves, but my wife was not feeling well, so we didn't enjoy it much... 11/18: with DAM NIGHT in NAGOYA. I was able to distribute the posters to those who came to the venue, and I didn't expect to be asked for my autograph. Thank you very much for this very valuable experience. Next time, please come to Meieki. w 11/24: Nishidaira Dam, Kuse Dam, Yokoyama Dam, and Tokuyama Dam. I accompanied the location scouting as an example. I will tell you about this one when the time is right. By the way, the autumn leaves were really beautiful. 12/7: Nakasato Dam. This was the 3rd meeting with dam enthusiasts. We had a lot of happenings, such as getting lost at the meeting place and an emergency water incident caused by a small water god, but in general it was fun. Earth is good, after all. 12/8: Yahagi Dam. Weather was fine. Temporary discharge tour. It was an official tour. It was very nice to see the discharge from the conduit up close. 12/22: Yokoyama, Tokuyama, and Takahashidani dams. Weather heavy snow. This was an example recording. I will tell you about this one when the time is right to tell you about it. It was very hard because of the heavy snow. w But this was also a valuable experience. Thank you very much. [...].
