View of the embankment from the Uchikoshi Tunnel entrance
It is located very close to Naride Dam. However, we entered a side road from Route 156, but we did not know where to enter and got lost once....
The dam is quite spectacular, as it can be seen immediately after passing through the tunnel. Since the dam is relatively new, the surrounding area is well maintained, making it a great place for a drive.
View of the levee from the left bank (opposite bank)
When viewed from the front, you can realize the size of the dam because there is nothing around it. It is the first time to see such a beautiful gravity-type straight concrete dam.
Zoom in a little.
It is the limit of the old digital camera.... This is the moment when I want a new digital camera.
View of the embankment from the left bank
It is a large dam from all angles.
View of the overflow from the levee
This, this! This angle! I'm sorry to say, however, that I am not good enough at photography to give you a sense of fear...
Mystery Foundation
I believe it is the foundation of a crane used in the construction, but I could not get hold of the documentation so it remains unclear. In any case, it is an unnatural foundation.

Other facilities/observations
It is no wonder why there is no PR exhibition hall despite the fact that it is such a large dam.
The surrounding area is an outdoor spot, and as mentioned earlier, it is a perfect dam for driving. However, although it may have been intended for sightseeing, the sparse number of visitors seems to be due to the failure of the Toyama prefectural government. At the very least, it would have been better if the dam was located along the national highway.
2004/5/7 Postscript: It seems that there is a museum "in the Sakaimigawa Dam Management Office, a little south of the Gokayama IC" (Abebe-san Thanx!). However, the opening hours are not known at all, and there seems to be no web site...
