Mami Ofuhu

Mami-Ofu" is the name of the off-line meeting, which stands for "Mamari, Minna-minna, Maruyama, Shitamashimashita". Incidentally, the godfather of the name is Abey-san of "Cat no Yugon" fame. As the name suggests, the idea was to relax and see the Maruyama Dam in Gifu together. This page shows the second day of the off-line meeting. This page reports on the second day of the meeting from the organizer's point of view.

>>Day 1 of Mami Ofu is here.

At the beginning of the second day, we gathered at the Kaneyama Dam.

Kaneyama Dam

Today we will gather at the Kaneyama Dam. Normally, the entrance to the right bank of the Kaneyama Dam is closed by a gate, so we are not allowed to approach the embankment. We had not planned to visit the dam at the initial planning stage, but to spice things up, we decided to call the Imawatari Power System Center of the Kansai Electric Power Co. I had made a note of the contact information when I did my preliminary research (lol), and I got an OK at once. I was extremely nervous on the phone, but I remember I was so happy that they agreed to do it so readily that I was gut-pumped with joy. I was so happy that they agreed to do it, and I remember I was gut-pumped with joy.

Everyone listening to Mr. Takahashi's commentary

The person who answered the phone at that time was Mr. Takahashi of KEPCO, who also guided us around the site. The photo on the left shows Mr. Takahashi giving us an explanation. Everyone was listening intently despite the heat.

Thank you very much for the souvenirs you gave us.

Oh yes. This is a bit of an aside, but about a month or so before the off-line meeting, a weekly broadcast on Tokai TV calledIt's Kiyoshi Nishikawa's karma!I saw Itao Itsuji-san visit the Kanayama Dam in the "Itagame" section of a program called "Itagame. Mr. Takahashi said that he thought he was asked to tour the dam because of this relationship. I don't think people would normally think that it was a group of enthusiasts who like dams. lol Moreover, most of them came from areas outside the broadcasting area.

Barbecue at a park downstream from Maruyama Dam

Barbecue

Next is the barbecue. At first, we were going to decide who would be in charge by lottery, but due to various problems, we suddenly switched to the method of deciding the right person for the right job based on my subjective judgment... (laugh) This was really a jackpot and I was extremely satisfied that the right person was in the right place (laugh). It was a great help. The barbecue was a great success with Nagano Papa's longtime know-how. Thank you very much.

Commemorative photo after barbecue

After the barbecue, everyone took a commemorative photo. Behind us is the Maruyama Dam. The location and situation were perfect! The weather was doubtful, but we managed to keep it. Sorry, I'm a rain man... But it would have been nice if it had been a little cooler...

To just below Maruyama Dam

Next, we will move to just below the Maruyama Dam. Here we had a great surprise! What a surprise!Suzume's Social Studies BookMr. Yajaku (who is the best in Japan when it comes to talking about Maruyama Dam!) (who is the best in Japan when it comes to talking about Maruyama Dam), joined the meeting on short notice. Thank you very much for coming from far away and being in poor health.

At the aggregate plant

At the aggregate plant

After visiting the area directly below, we went to the aggregate plant on the left bank. The aggregate plant is a place where aggregate, the material for concrete, is stored during the construction of Maruyama Dam. This is truly an industrial heritage. If you actually see it, you can really feel it. However, the site is off-limits due to the construction of an auxiliary road associated with the Shin-Maruyama Dam construction. You can see it from a little distance.

After visiting the aggregate plant, the next stop is the observation deck on the right bank. This is the best place to view the Maruyama Dam from above. Although I wrote this, this is actually the first time for me to see the dam from the observatory (lol). I guess there are not so many people coming here. But I am deeply moved to think that in a few more years, this place will be gone. This will probably be the first and last time we will meet like this at this place with this group.

Dispersed into two groups: the group for the 418 severe road and the group for the Sugihara Sempo Memorial Museum tour.

Sugihara Sempo Memorial Hall

After fully enjoying the Maruyama Dam, the group will be divided into two groups: the Route 418 group, which is highly praised as a "bad road," and the group visiting the memorial museum of Sempo Sugihara, known as "Schindler of Japan.
By the way, I have already driven on the severe route 418 when I was driving the old CR-V (RD1), so I decided to refrain from this one. Because the new CR-V (RD5) is a bit bigger, so it is not easy to handle and I didn't want to scratch it... lol.
Still, there were many people from the Route 418 group, which is a very bad road. I guess that's how well known they are.

I was very happy to learn about his greatness at the Sugihara Sempo Memorial Museum. I could never have done something like that. I heard that the Japanese government does not approve of what Sempo Sugihara did. It is true that as a diplomat, it may be an unbecoming act to indiscriminately issue visas to Jews, but if we truly claim to be a peaceful nation, I think we should recognize his great deed.... If I write such a thing, I'm going to be harassed by political groups and political associations. lol

Finally, the second day's schedule comes to an end ...

Finally, the entire two-day MAMI-OFU schedule is coming to an end.
I'm sure the 418 group is trying to back their way back now," he said with a laugh, as we left the Sugihara Sempo Memorial Museum and moved to the parking lot of the Humanitarian Hill Park, where we were to meet.
I was so deeply moved that I almost cried when I greeted the end of "Mami Ofu. I tried not to let anyone notice (lol), but if I wrote it here, it wouldn't make any sense (explosion).

This is the end of my report, but I would like to thank everyone who participated in the "MAMI-OFU" event, and thank you very much for taking part in this poor off-line meeting hosted by this site. Thank you very much for your hard work in the heat and distance. We apologize for the many things we did not do well. And Mr. Takahashi of Kansai Electric Power Company, thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again. For those who were not able to attend, please join us next time.
I would like to hold such an off-line meeting again, although I do not know when that will be. I would like to make it better than this time. Please join us again.

I really...
Thank you very much! Thank you!
