View of the levee from the downstream side of the right bank
Located downstream of the Anegawa Dam, it can be found on the way to the downstream park of the Anegawa Dam. I originally did not know this dam existed, but it is as if I discovered it during my coverage of the Anegawa Dam. However, it is firmly surrounded by a fence and is quite closed. The height of the embankment also seems quite low, and when we interviewed the dam, we were taking it for granted that it would not be listed in the dam handbook...but it is 16.4 meters high, so it seems that it somehow belongs to the dam category.

As a matter of course, the top edge is off limits.

The Anegawa Dam is located ahead.
The composting sand appears to be quite bad....
View of flood discharge and intake from the left bank
I seem to remember that there were three radial gates, but I have a very hazy memory... (sweat)
In the back is probably a water intake for power generation. It is dark and a little scary.

Access | The nearest interchanges to the Kyokudani Dam are Nagahama, Maibara, and Sekigahara. It can be reached from any of the interchanges at a similar distance. Here is how to access from Maibara. Exit at the interchange, turn right and go straight on Route 21. Turn left at Isshiki intersection Go straight on Prefectural Road No. 19. Go straight at the Noichishiki East intersection, but beyond this point the road becomes Prefectural Road No. 40. Then just drive along the road. I let it run for a while, and then there's a big curve where it goes uphill. Turn right before that, then turn left at the immediate crossroads, and follow the road the rest of the way. |
Other facilities/observations
It does not have all the facilities, but you can use the Anegawa Dam for toilets, etc., as it is within close proximity.
