January 2015 Wakayama Prefecture Dam Tour (Hirokawa Dam - Tonoyama Dam)

On this day, I went to Wakayama Prefecture for the first time after hearing that the Kirimegawa Dam under construction had reached its surcharge level and would be releasing (overflowing) water. This is the route I took when I visited the dam. The area is famous for producing mandarin oranges and plums, so I stopped at a roadside station along the way to buy souvenirs related to these products...

December 2014 Mimasaka area, Okayama Prefecture, Japan: Dam tour (Tsugawa Dam - Yashiroguchi Dam)

While the main target of this day was the Kanami Dam for the purpose of making a New Year's greeting card, we also visited the Tomada Dam with its wonderful design, the Onbara Dam, a rare buttress dam in Japan, and the Yubara Dam, where you can enjoy the combination of a hot spring and a dam...
Driving course

April 2014 Hyogo Tamba/Kyoto West Dam Tour (Tsubashi Dam - Hiyoshi Dam)

On this day, I visited dams in the Tamba region of Hyogo Prefecture to participate in the award ceremony of the Japan Dam Association's photo contest to be held at Hiyoshi Dam before the ceremony begins. Although most of the dams are fill dams, they are important dams and reservoirs that support agriculture in the Tamba area...

March 2014 Shikoku Dam Tour (Shingu Dam - Kawaguchi Dam)

Shikoku makes for a wonderful dam tour no matter how many times you visit. Gravity concrete dams, and high dams at that, are the main attraction, but unique arch dams such as the Kominoso Dam and the Omiya Dam are also in store for the second day. The Kawaguchi Dam will betray your expectations in a good way, given the size of its embankment...

January 2014 Hyogo Tanba Sasayama/ Western Kyoto Dam Tour (Hachimantani Dam - Fuei Pond)

On this day, I toured dams in Tanba-Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture and western Kyoto Prefecture as my first visit to dams this year. Overall, there are a lot of earth dams, and the tour is a bit more professional-oriented, but there are also famous concrete dams such as the Hatagawa Dam and Hiyoshi Dam in between, so even those who are not so keen on earth dams can fully enjoy the tour....

Joganji River/Jintsukuri River System Dam Tour (Arimine Dam - Sarukoshi Dam), Toyama, August 2013

This route mainly includes the tour at the Arimine Dam, so we have included the time required for the tour plus lunch time. If you do not participate in the tour, you can visit other dams, but you can also visit places that are normally inaccessible...
Driving course

May 2013 Northern Niigata Dam Tour (Shimojogawa Dam - Akashiba Dam)

I think it was characterized by a wide variety of dams, from small to large dams. In addition, hydroelectric power generation is also active in the region with abundant river water, and the Yangcheon Dam, in particular, is very spectacular with its gates lined up in a row. I particularly recommend this course...
Driving course

March 2013 Kii Peninsula Dam Tour (Ichinoki Dam - Ikehara Dam)

This course can be described as an ironic course. It can be said to be a course where one is full of hunger after eating only the main dish of many old-fashioned dams and an arch dam at the end. It is also one of the rainiest areas in the country, and has been plagued by frequent heavy rains....
Driving course

Mie/Shiga Dam Tour (Inabenike Dam - Eigenji Dam), October 2003

Some parts of this itinerary lost a lot of time (or "this time"...?). (Or is it "this time"?) After the Nakasato Dam, we decided to have lunch. After the Nakasato Dam, we decided to have lunch, so we headed north on Route 365, looking for a suitable restaurant, but we could not find one that suited our taste, and we found ourselves in Sekigahara. It was a mistake to go north here.
Driving course

July 2003 Kurobe Dam Tour (Kurobe Dam - Uchimura Dam)

This time, since the Kurobe Dam is the main attraction, we had to move around it, and it was quite a difficult plan. Also, we did not actually visit the TEPCO Museum. This itinerary is only a plan and may differ from the actual schedule. There are many places to see in Nagano, and there are many dams that we did not visit. We can plan many variations of the itinerary, depending on whether we mainly visit dams or other sightseeing spots.

January 2003: Sudden New Year's Day dam tour in Nagano (Minowa Dam - Azusa River 3 dams)

This time we were going to tour a dam after seeing the first sunrise and then go for a ride on a snow-covered road! But before we knew it, we were on our way to a dam tour, so it was a completely unplanned visit. So, it was a very difficult trip because we did not have enough fuel and the route was not efficient. That being said, I myself really like this kind of unplanned trip.

November 2002 Okuhida Dam Tour (Iwaya Dam - Takane No. 1 Dam)

There are so many dams in the Takayama area. In addition, you may discover dams that you did not know existed even though you researched them beforehand, such as the Nishimura Dam and the Kugano Dam. This area may be very nice to visit in autumn or winter. The area around Iwaya Dam in particular is a great place to enjoy the autumn leaves, and the dam in winter is also a great place to visit, as the area gets a lot of snow in winter. After playing at the ski resort, it might be a good idea to visit the dam.

Sep. 2002: 2nd day of dam tour (Tedorigawa Dam - Kutouryu Dam)

This is a dam tour on the return trip from Kanazawa. This time, the itinerary completely ignores the time for breaks and interviews. I don't remember it taking me more than 2 hours and 40 minutes from Tedorigawa Dam to Butsubara Dam, so please use it only as a reference. But still, there were many dams we missed on this day...
Driving course

2002.09 Dam tour day 1 (Mimogi Dam - Sakai River Dam - Tori Dam)

The so-called "Shogawa Dam Group" is full of dams that are worth seeing, but many of them do not allow access to the tops of the dams, making the coverage extremely difficult. In addition, the roads to the dams off the national highway are narrow, making it difficult just to get to them. In particular, the prefectural road to the Ooshirakawa Dam is often blocked by falling rocks, and in the fall of 2003, there was an accident in which a person was left behind by a falling rock (no fatalities or injuries were reported), so please be careful when visiting.
