On this day, there was an award ceremony for a photo contest by the Japan Dam Association at Hiyoshi Dam, so I decided to visit the neighboring dams until it was time to attend that ceremony. Date of interview: 1/4/2014 (Sat.) The Mikumari Dam was the next dam we visited on this day after the Hachimantani Dam. The name of the dam is written in hiragana, which is unusual. The approach to Mikumari Dam from Hachimantani Dam looks like it can be reached from the upstream side of Mikumari Dam on the map, but on the way...

1479-Hikihara Dam

Hikihara Dam is a Hyogo Prefecture-owned gravity concrete dam located in Shiso City, Hyogo Prefecture. The dam site is equipped with a parking lot. Valuable remains from the time of construction have been preserved and can be viewed freely. The embankment can be seen from downstream, so it is a highly recommended dam. / Gravity concrete dam / 66m

1465-Tachigahata Dam

After visiting Ishii Dam, we headed to Tachigahata Dam. However, I was very impressed that the interesting properties were scattered around before we reached the embankment, and the embankment was not the only thing to see. The stone-lined dam was clearly distinct from the concrete dams we had seen before. I am sure that the people of the Meiji period must have seen a landscape not much different from this picture. / Gravity concrete dam / 33.3m
Hyogo Prefecture Dam

1519-Ishii Dam

This is a Hyogo Prefecture-operated flood control dam that also serves the purpose of recreation and has a gallery inside the embankment. I had done a little preliminary study of the dam beforehand, and was very curious to see a dam with "recreation" as its purpose. However, it seemed to fulfill its purpose, and there were quite a few people walking around. / Gravity concrete dam / 66.2m
Hyogo Prefecture Dam

1507-Tenno dam

This is a perforated dam for flood control only, which does not store water. The orifice gate is actually visible in this photo. The orifice is located below the perforated gate. The orifice is higher than expected, so it does not seem that it does not store water at all. / Gravity Concrete Dam / 33.8m
Hyogo Prefecture Dam

1511-hitokura dam

This is the first dam in Hyogo Prefecture on this site. We stopped by during our trip to Kobe and Arima Onsen. It was a hot day, but we were unusually blessed with clear blue skies. Around the dam, there are many spots where you can enjoy outdoor activities such as tennis, fishing, camping, and barbecue. It might be a good idea to spend a little more time and take your time to visit the dam. / Gravity concrete dam / 75m
