Okumikawa is an area with many dams, and of these, I personally like Uren Dam the best.
Location: Kawai, Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture
View of the levee from the parking lot on the left bank
Drive National Route 151 and turn onto Prefectural Route 424. There is a signboard on the way, so you should be fine. The dam itself is a popular tourist attraction, as there is the nearby "Nyuiwa Gorge," which is famous for its strange rocks and megaliths.
View of the flood discharge from the top
The gate was open just a little bit and they were releasing the water. I personally wish they would open it a little more....
View of the reduction work from the top edge
The water is very beautiful, stretching straight and white from the flood discharge.
View of the levee (downstream side) from the right bank
Okumikawa is an area with many dams, and among these, I personally like the Uren Dam the best. I like the dam itself, but there are many other reasons.
View of the embankment (lake side) from the right bank
However, no matter how much I like the dam, I don't like it when there is so much garbage as shown in the photo on the left. If it is natural things such as wood chips and driftwood, it is still a bit disgusting to see plastic bottles and tires...
View of the dam lake from the right bank
It is a very scenic place with mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. I am concerned about the trash in the foreground....

According to an elderly man we met at Oshima Dam, a construction cableway was installed from the Mikawa Kawai station to the dam site. However, about half a century has passed since the dam construction. I could not find any remnants of it.
