Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1106-Takane No.2 Dam / Gifu Prefecture

It can be found by driving National Route 361 east of Akigami Dam or west of Takane No. 1 Dam. The lower part of the dam is used for pumped storage power generation between the Takane No. 1 Dam and the Akigami Dam. / Hollow gravity concrete / 69m

1105-Takane Daiichi Dam / Gifu Prefecture

It is located along Route 361 between Takayama and Kisofukushima. When I went there, it was quite deserted with no one around. I guess you could call it an unexplored region. It is quite dangerous in winter. If you are not used to snow-covered roads, it is safer not to go there. / Arch / 133m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1088-Hatogaya Dam (Ohmaki Dam)

It is located 12-13 km north of Mimogi Dam on Route 156 in a straight line. Shirakawa-go, a famous World Heritage site with its Gassho-zukuri style of architecture, is nearby, and there are many sightseeing buses on the nearby roads. / Gravity Concrete / 63.2m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1095-Miboro Dam

I can think of no other rock-fill dams as good as this one, except for the Mimogai Dam and the Tedorigawa Dam. The dam side park on the downstream side of the dam is also magnificent, but I don't think you can really appreciate the enormity of the dam from there alone. The damside park located downstream of the dam is also magnificent, but you cannot get a sense of the enormity of the dam just from the damside park, so I highly recommend a visit to the embankment. / Rockfill / 131m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1097-Kuguno Dam

It is a very small dam that does not even appear on maps. It is also located along an old road, so it seems to stand quietly. The Kunano Dam seems to be managed remotely from the control center of the Akigami Dam. There was a telemeter-related device nearby. / Gravity Concrete / 26.7m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1085-Akigami Dam

To reach Akigami Dam this time, we took Prefectural Route 87 from Kunano Town on National Route 41, turned right at the intersection of Timely and drove along National Route 361. If the weather was fine, we could see Mt. Norikura in the vicinity of Kunano Town. The weather was calm and windless, and there were no waves on the surface of the lake, so I was able to photograph the "upside-down dam" instead of "upside-down Fuji. / Gravity Concrete / 74m

1070-Kaneyama Dam / Gifu Prefecture

To get to the dam, head toward Yaotsu-cho from National Route 41 at the Moriyama 3-chome intersection and drive along Prefectural Route 350, and you will see a signboard, making it easy to find. The dam is located downstream of the Maruyama Dam, and although it is not very high, the many gates are quite spectacular. / Gravity Concrete / 36.3m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1084-Maruyama Dam

The surrounding roads are narrow, so those who are not accustomed to narrow roads may have some difficulty. However, the road is being widened in connection with the construction of the new Maruyama Dam, so when the dam is completed, the area may be somewhat more crowded as a tourist attraction. If you want to visit the new Maruyama Dam, it is the best time to visit because it will be gone when the new dam is completed. / Gravity Concrete / 98.2m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

2952-Iwamura Dam

The best rural scenery in Japan, a female lord of a castle...such an image is attached to Iwamura-cho. But I think "Japan's best farming village scenery" is an accurate description. The atmosphere is very tranquil, as an old man strolling near the dam casually greeted me. / Gravity Concrete / 35.8m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

3013-Ogadoho Dam

The park is very beautifully maintained, but even though it is close to the national highway, the access road is not very good, so there will probably be few tourists. Also, the access road is too narrow, and I felt that the dam site is not a place where one can enjoy nature to the fullest because it is too well maintained. / Gravity Concrete / 42.5m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1116-Iwaya Dam / Gifu Prefecture

It was just the time of year for autumn foliage, and the fiery red colored leaves were impressive. Living in the Chubu area, "Asuke" comes to mind when I think of autumn foliage, but I also recommend the traffic jam-free Iwaya Dam. / Rockfill / 127.5m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1115-Mazegawa No.2 Dam

If you are coming from the Nagoya area, take National Route 41, turn onto National Route 256 at the Shimo-Myoki-cho intersection, and turn onto Prefectural Route 86, and you will soon find the Mazegawa Second Dam. The photo was taken in the early morning haze, so it is a little hard to see, but please bear with me... / Gravity Concrete / 44.5m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1065-Nishimura Dam

Going north from the Iwaya Dam and going straight on Prefectural Road 431 without crossing the Maze Bridge, you will find the Nishimura Dam on the left. This was not in our original plan, but we had no idea that there was a dam in such a place, and we decided to cover it on short notice. / Gravity Concrete / 19.5m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1075-Kuze Dam / Gifu Prefecture

Get off at the Ogaki IC of the Meishin Expressway, drive north on Route 258, turn left at the intersection with Route 21, turn right at the Kawama intersection, continue north on Route 417, turn left at the Showa-machi intersection, and continue north this time on Route 303. After passing the Kuse Village Office, you will see the building on your right. / Gravity Concrete / 34m

1096-Yokoyama Dam

Get off at the Ogaki IC of the Meishin Expressway, drive north on Route 258, turn left at the intersection with Route 21, turn right at the Kawama intersection, continue north on Route 417, turn left at the Showa-machi intersection, and now continue north on Route 303. Turn left at the Showa-machi intersection and continue north on Route 303, passing the Kuse Village Office and Kuse Dam. / Hollow gravity concrete / 80.8m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1068-Nishidaira Dam

It took me a little time to find this dam. It would have been easy to find it from the prefectural road side on the right bank, but I photographed it from the national road side on the left bank, and also from a residential road off the national road. / Gravity Concrete / 31.5m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1125-Kamiosu Dam/Kamiosu Dam

To reach Kamiosu Dam, get off at the Seki IC of the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, drive east on Route 248, and turn left at that intersection after getting off the elevated road. Go north on Prefectural Road No. 17, turn left at the Ohdoro intersection, and continue west on National Road No. 418 toward Kyu-Neo Village, famous for its Usuzumi cherry blossoms. Once in the former Nebo Village, turn right on the first Prefectural Road 255. Follow the road the rest of the way. / Rockfill / 98m
Dam in Gifu Prefecture

1130-Tokuyama Dam

Along with the Kawabegawa Dam in Kyushu, it is one of the dams whose construction is being questioned. When we visited the site, we found that the construction work was progressing surprisingly well, and we could even imagine what the embankment would look like after completion. When completed, it will have the highest total storage capacity in Japan, the third highest embankment height, the second largest embankment volume, and the third largest water area. / Rockfill / 161m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

0000-hikage dam

It is relatively large for an erosion control dam and is even on the map. The location is difficult to explain. If you are coming from Toyota City, drive east on Route 301, turn right onto the city road leading to Takiwaki around Matsudaira, turn left at the T-junction, turn left at the first street, turn right at another T-junction, and go straight the rest of the way. / Gravity Concrete
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

0000-Meiji Water Headworks

A headworks is a water intake facility for agricultural use, and furthermore, the Meiji Water Headworks is not a "dam" in the strict sense (as defined by the River Law) since its embankment height is 14.5m, but I thought I would include it. / Gravity Concrete / 14.5m
