Dam at the ruins of Takato Castle, famous for its cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
Location: Oaza Higashi Takato, Takato Town, Kamiina-gun, Nagano Prefecture
View of the embankment from the left bank
The ruins of Takato Castle are famous for its cherry blossoms. In fact, it is also famous for its autumn foliage. The Takato Dam is located in the vicinity of the ruins of Takato Castle. It is a small dam, so you might miss it.
View of the water intake from the left bank
It was probably an intake for power generation, but it was roaring and splashing.
View of the levee from the bridge downstream
Three radial gates are lined up in a narrow space. The Miwa Dam is located at the far end of the river, and although it is only a few kilometers away, the width of the river has narrowed considerably.
Looking downstream from the bridge
The autumn leaves were just about ready to be seen, but this photo does not quite do it justice....

Other facilities/observations
Each facility uses the facilities of Takato Joshi Park. Since it is a small dam, there are no additional facilities at the dam itself. I would like to revisit during the cherry blossom season. Dam and cherry blossoms... picturesque?
