May 2004 "Oigawa River Systemdam tourThe second dam is the Sasama River Dam.
This dam is used for power generation by Chubu Electric Power Company, and water taken from the Shiogo Dam on the main stream of the Oigawa River also flows here.

The top end is open to automobile traffic, and there is apparently a villa area ahead, but there is not much traffic. Only about one car passed by during the interview.

At first I thought the water was leaking from the gate, but there was a discharge outlet near the gate from which some water was discharged, perhaps for water utilization.

There is a gate for water intake on the left bank. We were able to see this area clearly as well.

It appears to be a place where garbage from the dam lake is collected and temporarily stored.

The dam lake is indeed full of trash.

The rest of the way is National Route 473 heading north toward Kawane Town.
After entering Kawane Town and eating taiyaki at Ieyama, take Prefectural Route 63.
After a short while, go to Kawane Onsen and turn right just after the tunnel.

Other facilities/observations

Parking lot×This neighborhood is called the Sasamawatari area, and there is a hot spring in Kawane where you can see the SL of the Oigawa Railway,
A roadside station is also attached.
There is also a footbath here, though it is nice to soak yourself in the hot spring,
If you are short on time, a footbath will soothe the fatigue of the drive.
Also, near Ieyama Station on the Oigawa Railway, there is a well-known restaurant that can be found in travel guides.
You may want to stop by at Taiyaki-ya, a traditional Japanese restaurant.
