Higashi-Fuji Dam is located near Fuji Safari Park, and we actually stopped by after visiting the Safari Park. Actually, I had been to the Safari Park several years ago and had planned to visit the Higashi-Fuji Dam, but I could not find it with my car navigation system and eventually gave up the idea of visiting. We were finally able to visit it.

Although I had heard about it, the Higashi-Fuji Dam is a mysterious dam, and first of all, the double wire mesh fence prevents you from getting close to the embankment. I managed to climb up the slope to take this photo.

Unlike most dams, the Higashi-Fuji Dam is an unusual dam in that the entire perimeter of the dam lake is embanked by an asphalt-facing fill dam, an embankment intercepted by asphalt.

The model and the fact that it is obstructed by a fence can't help but remind me of the Banba Regulating Pond on the Atsumi Peninsula.

The top of the embankment is 1,597.5 m long, making it the second longest in Japan, and the longest asphalt-facing fill dam in Japan. The asphalt facing fill dam is the longest in Japan, and was reinforced in 2006 to prevent damage to the asphalt barrier even if the embankment were to deform in the event of a major earthquake of the Great Hanshin Earthquake.

It was so cloudy that it looked as if it would start pouring at any moment, and I apologize for the darkness of the photo itself. Fuji can be seen perfectly from here if the weather is good. It was fine during the daytime, but in the evening when I visited, it was as you can see. I went there to take two shots of the Higashi Fuji Dam and the embankment, but it was a pity. Well, it can't be helped.

And the monotonous pictures continue. It looks like an ordinary pond in this way, but it is a magnificent dam.

Looking south from the north, the intake tower can be seen on the other side of the river. However, it is too far away to see.

For some reason, only here is a depression. The embankment itself surrounding the dam lake looks like a perfect square, but in fact, it looks like the top of the "convex" is facing Mt. When we often think about strategy and tactics (or is it called briefing?), we often think about the "convex" shape of the pieces. The "convex" shape of the Tsutsumi is actually shaped as if the top of the "convex" is pointing toward Mt.

For some reason, this is the only place where the color is white. There is a blue valve in the back, so this may not be asphalt in terms of structure.

Only the eastern dike looks the most like a dike.

See? It looks like an earth dam from here.

Other facilities/observations

You can drive to the levee on the north side if you want to, but it is safer to park on the east side and walk if you have a low vehicle height or horsepower. Also, even with a car navigation system, it is hard to find the levee. Until you see the embankment, you will feel uneasy. Also, of course, fishing is not allowed. It is a crime if you climb over the fence.
