The Sudagai Dam is a power generation dam located at the junction of the Naramata Dam and the Yagisawa Dam. When the dam was completed in the Showa period (1926-1989), it was named Naramata Dam, but the upstream Naramata Dam changed only the letters in consideration of the existing Naramata Dam. But in the end, the Naramata Dam, which was the senior dam, changed its name to the Sudagai Dam because it sounded the same and was confusing. So it is a dam that is considerate to its younger brother.

And his brother is now being released.

This is the exhibition hall. This is the TEPCO Power Supply PR Center Suda Gai. Unfortunately, it was closed on November 30, 2008. I heard that you can take a tour of the power plant if you make a reservation, but I regret that I should have seen it when it was closed.

By the way, the little guy reflected in the glass is me.

Once inside, you will see a model of the power plant. The tour of the power plant will give you a chance to see the real thing.

There were other exhibits and panels inside that explained pumped storage power generation in an easy-to-understand model. I remember that the male staff of the PR pavilion gave us pamphlets, ballpoint pens, and flower seeds at the entrance. It is a pity that we cannot get them anymore.

On the way to the Yagisawa Dam, there is a spot where you can see the Sudagai Dam from above. It is full of nature, so the overgrown trees are in the way, but it cannot be helped.
