Dam in Aichi Prefecture

1232-Yahata Regulating Pond

The Yahata Regulating Pond is a central barrier-type rockfill dam dedicated to irrigation water, constructed at the end of the Nanbu-Kira Trunk Canal as part of the state-run Yahagigawa River Comprehensive Project. The dam provides a stable water supply as a source of water for the former Hazu Town. It is also an unusual dam, with beautiful flowers blooming on the riprap and looking like an earth dam despite being a rockfill dam. / Rockfill dam / 22.7m

1209-Oiike

Oiike is an irrigation-only earth dam located in Koda-cho, Nukata-gun, and has been recently renovated. It has just been renovated and is beautiful, and it is also an assertive dam, as you can see on the embankment. I hope the local farmers will continue to do their utmost to make the dam work as well as possible. Many cherry trees have been planted along the lakeside, making it a popular cherry blossom viewing spot. / Earth dam / 31m

1201-Chikaga Iriike

Rikigairi Pond is an agricultural reservoir located near Kotosawa Regulating Pond, and was built by the local people. It is not easy to approach the embankment, perhaps because it is cherished by the local people. The flood discharge was also photographed through the fence. I was forced to take this picture, so I ignored the level. / Earth dam / 19m

1233-Kotozawa Adjustment Pond

The Kotosawa Regulating Pond is located in Koda-cho, Nukata-gun, south of Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, and is a central impervious zone-type rockfill dam under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for irrigation purposes only. Although it looks like an earth dam at a glance, it is a rockfill dam. It is also the core dam of the national Yahagigawa River Comprehensive Project, and is an important source of irrigation water for Koda Town, Kira Town, and Hazu Town. / Earth dam / 20.5m

0000-Shimomura Dam

Kamiyasaki-cho was hit hard by the Tokai torrential rainfall in September 2000 (also known as the Enan torrential rainfall in some areas). The Shimomura Dam was originally a fixed weir, but it was replaced by a rubber dam after it was breached in addition to causing more damage from the torrential rain in Tokai. The height of the embankment is less than 15 meters, so technically it is not a dam, but we decided to include it here because it is rare. / Rubber dam / 4.3m

1227-Yahagi No.2 Dam/Yahagi Dam

Yahagi No. 2 Dam is located downstream from Yahagi No. 1 Dam. Since many runners and bikers drive along the lakeshore road, I hesitated to park every time and could not easily take pictures, but I took the plunge. The water in the dam lake is very muddy due to heavy rain until the previous day. / Gravity Concrete / 38m

1108-Yahagi Dam (Yahagi Daiichi Dam)

During the touring season, the number of motorcycles is very high and the number of visitors has increased considerably due to the recent dam boom. The embankment is also accessible to automobiles and serves as a bridge. Come to think of it, I once saw a "wild boar" near the dam around spring. Please be careful... / arch / 100m

0000-hikage dam

It is relatively large for an erosion control dam and is even on the map. The location is difficult to explain. If you are coming from Toyota City, drive east on Route 301, turn right onto the city road leading to Takiwaki around Matsudaira, turn left at the T-junction, turn left at the first street, turn right at another T-junction, and go straight the rest of the way. / Gravity Concrete

0000-Meiji Water Headworks

A headworks is a water intake facility for agricultural use, and furthermore, the Meiji Water Headworks is not a "dam" in the strict sense (as defined by the River Law) since its embankment height is 14.5m, but I thought I would include it. / Gravity Concrete / 14.5m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

0000-Sasado weir

The Sasado weir is an intake weir that leads water to the Sasado Power Plant about 6 to 7 km downstream from here. Therefore, the "Sasado" of Sasado weir seems to have been named after the power plant, not after the place. As proof of this, the area around this weir is called "Kowatari. / Gravity Concrete

0000-hyakketsu dam/duzuki dam

To reach Momotsuki Dam, drive National Route 153 toward Asuke if you are coming from Toyota City, and go straight north on Prefectural Route 11 without crossing the Hirado Bridge. It is not a dam in the narrow sense of the word, as the embankment height is no more than 15 meters. / Gravity Concrete

0000-asuri dam

When driving along the upper reaches of the Yahagi River on Prefectural Road 11 from Toyota City, you will see it on your right. The dam (weir) is small in size but has a distinctive red gate. The dam (weir) is equipped with a fish passage, which seems to be environmentally friendly, but it is unknown how many fish actually pass through it. Since the height of the embankment is less than 15 m, it is treated as a weir. / Gravity Concrete

3126-Kise Dam

It is a relatively new dam and has basic facilities as it is "open to the community". As a small dam, I personally did not expect much, but it seems to be a good spot to enjoy barbecue parties and fishing. / Gravity Concrete / 33m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

122-Habu Dam

There is a parking lot, but all of them were full, so we parked at the top end. Come to think of it, this is the only dam where you can park at the top end. The toilet is not available unless you go to the boat ramp, but it may be a bit far away. / Gravity Concrete / 62.5m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

1199-Koshido Dam

The area around the dam is called "Kanpachi Gorge," which used to be a scenic spot famous for its cherry blossoms. However, although there are remnants of the old days, the area is not as bustling as it used to be, and it is deserted. Even cars speeding down the national highway pass through here without a care in the world. At most, people come here to take a walk or go jogging. / Gravity Concrete / 22.8m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

1230-Tominaga Dam

It is small in scale and is not even shown on maps, so it is a dam that stands quietly and unnoticed. The Kuroda Dam and the Yahagi Dam are conspicuous, making it look like a middle-management window-dweller. / Gravity Concrete / 32.5m

1231-Kuroda Dam

If you are coming from the Nagoya area, turn right at the Odaki intersection on Route 153. The dam itself is very large and there are many points of interest, so it is best to take your time. / Gravity Concrete / 45.2m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

3042-Ameyamatamu

The facilities are standard, but very quiet. The access road is not well-developed, and it is not listed on some maps, or is not prominent at all. It is a hidden character in the Mikawa region. / Gravity Concrete / 21.5m
