Third Quarter 2021 Dam Event Dam log
This article can be read in about 6 minutes to read.

Hello. It's time for the dam log after a long time.

The number of people infected with the new coronavirus has recently begun to slow down, and in the latter half of October, various dam events began to be announced.

10/31 (Sun): Serigawa Dam test flooded to full capacity (=overflow)

The Serikawa Dam in Shiga Prefecture is currently undergoing a major renovation in 2021 and is under test flooding, but Mr. Hamtiy, a dam enthusiast from Shiga Prefecture, has informed us that the Land Improvement District is working to fill the dam to full capacity (i.e., the first overflow from the spillway after the renovation) on Sunday, October 31, around 8:00 to 10:00 am. (This may be changed or cancelled depending on weather and other factors.)

The road on the downstream side of the river is still closed to traffic due to construction work in the surrounding area, but we were told that they have obtained permission from the district mayor to use an alternate route (accessible by car) that leads to the side of the skyline to go up the after-flow water discharge, and the lock on the animal-proof fence at the entrance of the alternate route will be open while Mr. Hamtiy is there. However, the parking lot at the top end is small, so please ride together. (Walking is also possible)

(Added on October 31, 2021)HAMTIY has received urgent word that the original route to the top end is no longer accessible to motorists.

Therefore, we were told to park at the Koto Prefectural Nature Park parking lot and walk to the levee.

(Added on the same day) It was found that this route is also not available. We are currently confirming this.

Other notes from HAMTIY
*Full water for two weeks to a month! Maintains.
Please be sure to take your trash home with you. If there is any illegal dumping, the entire area will be locked and you will not be able to access the top edge again.
*Ichiyoen village is a bottleneck. Please behave in a manner that does not disturb the residents.
