Tour of Nunome DamAfter finishing the "Daimon Dam," we suddenly decided to go see the Daimon Dam, which was under test flooding at the time. Incidentally, there is another dam of the same name in Yamanashi Prefecture.

A statue of the White Tiger, the guardian god of the west, sits at the entrance to the parking lot of Mt. Daimon Dam is located on top of the mountain, so you will have to climb a very steep slope, but it is a slope that will reduce your fuel consumption.

I parked my car in the parking lot (for a fee) and looked at the embankment from the Shigi Ohashi Bridge. The area around the dam is still under maintenance, but it looks quite nice, even on the dam lake side. You get the impression that it is really on top of a mountain.

The dike is white and beautiful. The crest is fitted with corner drops.

Everything is beautiful. There is artificial vegetation on the ground on the left bank, but this is probably due to landscape considerations.

It looks like they are developing it like a park, and I can't wait for the day when we can freely enter it. (Although I write this, I have not revisited the Daimon Dam even 7 years after the photo was taken...)

Compared to the left bank, the right bank has a sense that it is still to be developed.

Originally, there was an old irrigation earth dam called "Daimon-ike" upstream of the Daimon Dam, and instead of earthquake-proofing the earth dam itself, it seems that the decision was made to continue to serve as the guardian deity of the area by constructing a new dam that would play the role of flood control. After completing its role, the embankment of Daimon Pond was demolished, but now its will has been carried on by the Daimon Dam...such was the dam.
