Momosuke Fukuzawa Exhibition & Dam Exhibition Visit Report Off-line meeting/event report
This article can be read in about 4 minutes to read.

A few days have passed since the torrential rains that caused tremendous damage in western Japan, and the rainy season soon opened with a heat wave that exceeded 35°C. Every day we are taking care of various things, but as the dam exhibition opened on Saturday, July 14 and the Momosuke Fukuzawa exhibition will end on Monday, July 16, I visited both exhibitions as announced in the Dam News recently. I visited both exhibitions at the same time.

Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Meiji Era and the 150th Anniversary of Momosuke Fukuzawa's Birth》 "From Yukichi to Momosuke: The Trajectory of Japanese Modernization

I visited for the first time because the exhibition was held at the Gifu Prefectural Museum located in a large park called Hyakunen Park in Seki-shi, Gifu Prefecture.

The ramp car was installed because it was built in a place where there was a considerable difference in elevation. The air conditioner was also working, which was helpful in the intense heat.

So, let's get inside the museum right away. Incidentally, the Momosuke exhibition can be viewed free of charge.

As soon as I entered, a video introducing Momosuke's background was playing. I knew that Momosuke was from Saitama, but did not know the specific location of his birthplace. (Or rather, now that I see it, it usually appears on Google Maps.)

At first, the main exhibit was about Momosuke's father-in-law, Yukichi Fukuzawa, but there were also valuable exhibits such as the Academia Nosmeki, which is very good for those who like that kind of thing.

I had heard from the priest of Teishoji Temple that Momosuke and Sadayakko were platonic business partners, not romantic partners, but the same explanation was given here, and the story that Sadayakko received support from Momosuke when she started her own business was actually a story that Sadayakko, like Momosuke, was a marketeer and had plenty of money. I was glad to learn that Sadayakko, like Momosuke, was a market trader and had ample funds to start his own business.

The Momosuke exhibition will be open until Monday, July 16, so be sure to visit as soon as possible.

Dam -Kiso River and Hida River- Exhibition

The dam exhibition at the Minokamo Cultural Forest and Minokamo Citizen Museum was the first day of the exhibition.

It was very interesting to see the official documents from the time of the dam construction, which were displayed in a large exhibition space. The background music was by Akira Ifukube, and it was good to hear it again.

In the back, there was an exhibition by a fellow dam enthusiast and dammeister, Yosshi-San, which was like the Maruyama Dam World.

I would like to tell you more about it, but please visit the site and see for yourself.

It may be good for free research during the summer vacation, so please visit the exhibition with your family. The dam exhibition will be open until 8/26 (Sun.).

Maruyama Dam (Gifu)

Finally, I decided to visit the Maruyama Dam before heading home. For some reason, the dam exhibition makes me want to visit the Maruyama Dam.

I was shocked to find out at the end that my SD card was not inserted in the camera, even though I had taken many pictures of the observatory and the bridge downstream in the intense heat.
