Niigata Prefecture Dam

0769-cassadam/kassadamu

We are pleased to participate in the "4th Dam Web Ring Kassa Dam Off-line Meeting" and this event was made possible by the cooperation of Denpatsu Kaihatsu (hereinafter referred to as Denpatsu). So, the Kassa Dam is accessed from the road at the back of the Mitsumata area parking lot of the Kagura Ski Resort. / Rockfill dam / 90m
Niigata Prefecture Dam

0773-Nii Dam

The lower dam, where pumped-storage power is generated between the upper dam, Kassa Dam, and the Nii Dam, is the Nii Dam. If you are coming from Gunma, drive north on the Mikuni Kaido road for a while after entering Niigata Prefecture, and you will see a sign on your right hand side. This is a great area for a drive, so please stop by. / Rockfill dam / 87m
Gunma Dam

0606-Aimata Dam

Despite the small size of the dam, the facilities are quite extensive. Of course, there are many things to see and do. National Route 17 runs along the side of the dam lake, which was also called Mikuni Kaido in the old days, and it is said that Kenshin Uesugi also passed through here. Nearby is Sarugakyo Onsen, which would be a good base for sightseeing and touring the dam. / Gravity Concrete Dam / 67m
Gunma Dam

0623-Naramata Dam

When that huge dike covers your field of vision, you are already in a world of amazement. How could such a man-made structure exist so deep in the mountains! Incidentally, the Tokuyama Dam was the largest embankment in Japan before it was completed. It is now the second largest, but it is so huge that it doesn't matter anymore. Compared to the Tokuyama Dam, where you cannot go directly under the embankment, the Naramata Dam is a more friendly dam. / Rockfill dam / 158m
Gunma Dam

0612-Yagisawa Dam

The Yagisawa Dam is an arch-type dam in the Okutone Dam Group, and it boasts of its gigantic size. It is the Yagisawa Dam. It is built in a secluded area of Okutone, and no one is allowed to enter beyond this point. / Arch / 131m
Gunma Dam

0602-Sudagai Dam

The Sudagai Dam is a power generation dam located at the junction of the Naramata Dam and the Yagisawa Dam. When the dam was completed in the Showa period (1926-1989), it was named Naramata Dam, but the upstream Naramata Dam changed only the letters in consideration of the existing Naramata Dam. But in the end, the Naramata Dam, which was the senior dam, changed its name to the Sudagai Dam because it sounded the same and was confusing. So it is a dam that loves its little brother. / Gravity Concrete / 72m
Gunma Dam

0605-Fujiwara Dam

Fujiwara Dam is the first high dam in the Okutone Dam complex. Although it has the use of power generation, it is not a stand-alone dam, but a pumped storage power generation dam with the upper dam, Tamahara Dam, and Fujiwara Dam is the lower dam. I saw this figure first from the downstream side, so I came straight to the downstream side. It is nice to be able to get a shot from the downstream side. / Gravity Concrete / 95m
Gunma Dam

0598-komori dam

The entire embankment is overflowing, and when the river is full of water, it creates a magnificent "sudare discharge" because of the natural overflow. It was lucky for us to see the discharge because there are days when the water volume is low and the dam does not discharge water. As you head upstream of the Tone River from this dam, high dams appear one after another, so it is recommended that you aim further upstream. / Gravity Concrete / 33m
Gunma Dam

0624-Yamba Dam

Entering Gunma from the Nagano Prefecture side, passing near Kusatsu Onsen, I had originally planned to go directly to the planned Yamba Dam construction site, but I noticed a public relations facility called the Yanbakan and made a hasty stop. The Yamba Dam has always been questioned as to whether it should be built or not, and even today it is a major issue that appears in newspaper articles, even in newspapers in the central part of Japan. / Gravity Concrete / 116m
Dam in Mie Prefecture

1331-hasudamu

Oh man. Four years have passed since I visited this dam and my memory is quite fuzzy. I wonder how much I can remember. The lotus dam is one of those hard-to-read dams that is hard to read as "Hachisudamu". It was completed in 1991, and although it is located deep in the mountains, it has a lot to offer. / Gravity concrete / 78m
Off-line meeting/event report

Mami Ofu Day 2 / Mami Ofu Futsukame (2005/08/15)

Mami-Ofu" is the name of the off-line meeting, which stands for "Mamari, Minna-minna, Maruyama, Shitamashimashita". Incidentally, the godfather of the name is Abey-san of "Cat no Yugon" fame. As the name suggests, the idea was to relax and see the Maruyama Dam in Gifu together. This page shows the second day of the off-line meeting. This page reports on the second day of the meeting from the organizer's point of view.

Mamie Off Day 1 / Mamie Off Day 1 (2005/08/14)

Mami-Ofu" is the name of the off-line meeting, which stands for "Mamari, Minna-minna, Maruyama, Shitamashimashita". Incidentally, the godfather is Abey-san of "Cat no Yugon" fame. As the name suggests, the idea was to relax and see the Maruyama Dam in Gifu together. This page is a report of the first day of the off-line meeting. In this page, I would like to report on the first day of the off-line meeting from the viewpoint of the organizer. The reason why we chose Maruyama Dam is because it is a representative dam of the Chubu area, and because it will disappear in the future with the construction of the new Maruyama Dam.
Dam in Mie Prefecture

1306-Miyagawa Dam

The area is full of nature, and there is even a campground. In addition, there are 1,000 cherry trees planted around the dam lake, and a sightseeing boat on the dam lake...it has become a tourist attraction, but I could not feel the atmosphere in this weather. I would like to go back on a fine day. / Gravity Concrete / 88.5m
Dam in Mie Prefecture

1291-Mochikoshi Pond

I remember the weather was quite bad and it rained on and off, sometimes very hard. I think it is unavoidable because it rains a lot in this area, but I would prefer sunny days if at all possible. However, rainy days are not so bad either, as they have their own charm. / earth / 16m
Shizuoka Prefecture Dam

1175-Miyakoda River Dam/Miyakoda River Dam

This dam was guided by Mr. Abebe. I remember it was unusually hot in July. / Rockfill / 55m
Dam in Aichi Prefecture

1220-Miyoshiike/Miyoshiike

The dam itself is small, but the lake is large in comparison. The dam lake is used as a training ground for canoeing, and competitions are held there from time to time. The gymnasium is also located next to the dam, indicating that the entire area is planned to be a comprehensive sports park. / earth / 19.7m
Kyoto Prefecture Dam

1403-Amagase Dam

I visited this dam after I went to "Lake Biwa Wan Wan Kingdom" because it was going to be closed. It is a very old-fashioned dam, just like Kyoto. Byodoin Temple is very close to the dam, so it would be a good idea to visit there as well. By the way, there is another dam called "Kisenyama Dam" nearby, but unfortunately you cannot enter. / Arch / 73m
Kyoto Prefecture Dam

1407-Hiyoshi Dam

The Hiyoshi Dam was awarded the Architectural Institute of Japan Prize in 1999. The design is well integrated with the surrounding area and is very well maintained, more so than any other dam I have seen. It is no wonder that architect Norihiko Dan designed this dam. There is so much to see and do at this dam. However, I was very disappointed that I visited on a day when the museum was closed. I would like to visit again at a later date. / Gravity Concrete / 67.4m
Nara Prefecture Dam

1573-Hase Dam / Nara Pref.

The name of this dammed lake was solicited from a local elementary school in Sakurai City, and it is called "Mahoroba Lake. Maybe if I were a snot-nosed elementary school student, I would not have thought of it. / Gravity Concrete / 55m
Nara Prefecture Dam

1569-Tenri Dam

The word "Tenri" reminds me of "Tenrikyo." I remember being taken to the headquarters as a child and kneeling in the hallway where the great monks passed by.... I also remember being treated well by the lady of the Tenrikyo Bunkyo-kai in my neighborhood, so I have a connection with Tenri in some way. So, I visited Tenri for the first time in about 20 years. Oyasama Miki must have been surprised to find that the place she visited for the first time in a long time was a dam. / Gravity Concrete / 60.5m
