Season for Familiarization with Forests and Lakes

The "Season for Familiarization with Forests and Lakes" began in 1987 and is a period (from July 21 to 31 every year) during which the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Forestry Agency, and the Japan Water Agency began educational activities to promote awareness of dams, dam lakes, water sources, and so on. During this period, various events are held at each dam.

The "Season for Familiarization with Forests and Lakes" began in 1987, and refers to the period (from July 21 to 31 every year) during which the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Forestry Agency, and the Japan Water Agency began educational activities to promote awareness of dams, dam lakes, water sources, and so forth.

During this period, various events will be held at each dam.

Typical events include tours of the inside of the embankment and tours of the dam lake by patrol boat.

In 2010, there were some doubts about holding the event due to the so-called "project screening" by the Government Revitalization Unit, but it seems that the event is somehow being held. However, although a pdf file is uploaded to the website every year showing which dam and what kind of event will be held, there is no announcement on the website of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the 2010 fiscal year (as of July 22, 2010).
