What is the Japan Dam Engineering Association? ・・・・ Prospectus of "with dam ★ night in Kyoto

Dams are important social infrastructure facilities that support human social and economic activities in terms of flood control and water utilization.
Dam engineering, a discipline formed in anticipation of the technological development of dam design, construction, and management, has traditionally been called comprehensive engineering, and research has been conducted as the integrated technology of the various disciplines involved. In other words, it has developed as a comprehensive engineering that includes applied mechanics, structural engineering, steel structure engineering, seismic engineering, hydraulics, hydrology, river engineering, power generation hydraulics, sanitary engineering, soil engineering, foundation engineering, rock mechanics, planning engineering, civil materials science, concrete engineering, agricultural civil engineering, applied geology, mechanical engineering, and telecommunications engineering. In order to respond to the numerous challenges that dams are currently facing, it is important to promote and synthesize these studies more efficiently, and we believe that it is necessary to establish a common forum for further developing and enhancing a new academic system that organically combines dam technologies, and thus the "Japan Dam Engineering Research Association (Japan Society of Dam Engineering)
(the predecessor of the "MCC")" was founded.
(The Society of Dam Engineering was recognized as an academic research organization under the Science Council of Japan Act as of September 10, 1993, and the name of the Society was changed to "Japan Society of Dam Engineering" as of the Ordinary General Meeting on May 10, 1994.)
The Japan Society of Dam Engineering has been working to establish ties not only with related academic societies in Japan, but also with international academic societies and research institutes. We have planned "with dam ★night in Kyoto" to provide an opportunity for the general public to experience the great role and appeal of dam structures.
We hope that visitors will learn about the major role played by the structure of a dam and experience the excitement of the overwhelming scale of the dam.
