We came here after the tour at the Sasagawa Dam. It seems that we used to be able to go close to the embankment, but we gave up and just looked at it from the national road because of this sign on the single pipe barricade. I wonder if we can get permission if we call them...
The Kumogawa Dam, together with the Sasagawa Dam and Nakajima Power Station, was constructed by Fukui Prefecture and has been managed by the Fukui Prefectural Government since its completion.

Actually, I have visited the Kumogawa Dam several times in the past, but this will be the first time I have properly photographed it. The last time I was here, my son was still quite young, and I remember that I took him out for a drive to take care of him at my father-in-law's funeral, passing through the famous "fall and you die" Onmi Pass from the Gifu Prefecture side.
It is a little far away with the naked eye, but I would like to get closer. The Kumogawa Dam is an arch dam and was constructed for power generation together with the Sasagawa Dam and Nakajima Power Station. It is also a dam for erosion control.
Astringent! Too austere! The Ungawa Dam was built in the same generation as the Sansei Dam, Kami Shiiba Dam, and Naruko Dam, in the early days of arch dams, and I think this austerity shows it.
In addition to the free overflow gate, the Kumogawa Dam is equipped with a large steel gate for low water level discharge on the right bank side. Moreover, it is a ski jump type!
Observe everywhere with a telephoto lens.
The Ungawa Dam is thick-walled, massive, and conveys a sense of quality and solidity.
Hmmm...it was the Cloud River Dam that I would like to get closer to if I could.
