The 11th Gathering with Dam Lovers in Nagara River Estuary Weir & Funatohira Locks!

Nagara River estuary dam Dam News
This article can be read in about 5 minutes to read.

This year, the Osaka Northern Japan Earthquake, torrential rain in western Japan, the Hokkaido Bold East Earthquake, T1821, and unusually hot summer heat all occurred in the last year of the Heisei Era, and there was also a lot of rain and frequent water outages, so the holding of the 11th event was in doubt!

The location is the Nagara River estuary weir! Not a dam! but many people in our survey requested that we hold the event at the Nagara River estuary weir, so we will be holding the event at the Nagara River estuary weir this time.

At the Nagara River estuary weir, we wanted to include a boat ride to experience the lock gates or patrol the area, but unfortunately the boat ramp was damaged due to repeated flooding, so we could only visit the levee.

However, as an option (for a fee), we have prepared a "Guided Kiso River Sightseeing Boat" that allows visitors to observe the Kelep water control system by De Reke and the Funatohira Locks. The Kiso River Sightseeing Boat also includes a box lunch for an additional 1,000 yen. (Of course, participation only in the Nagara River estuary weir is also acceptable.)

Why don't you come and see with your own eyes the hard work of our predecessors in the flood control of the Kiso San-river?

Other 2

Just upstream of the Nagara River estuary weir, there is a truss bridge called Ise Bridge, which is scheduled to be removed for replacement in the near future. The bridge is scheduled to be demolished in the near future to make way for a new bridge. The location is just off the left bank of the Nagara River (former Nagashima Town side). If you take your time to look at the trusses, you will notice them right away. There is no place to park your car nearby, so it is best to park your car at the parking lot of the Nagara River estuary weir and go on foot, although it is quite a distance.
