View of the levee from downstream
Fujiwara Dam is the first high dam in the Okutone Dam complex. Although it has the use of power generation, it is not a stand-alone dam, but a pumped storage and power generation dam with the upper dam, Tamahara Dam, and Fujiwara Dam is the lower dam.
I saw this figure first from the downstream side, so I came straight to the downstream side. It is nice to be able to get a shot from the downstream side.
Entrance to Tamahara Power Plant
I am curious about this back here, but it is closed by shutters. Does it continue to the Tamahara Dam?
sub-dam
When the water is discharged, you can probably see the water surmounting this area with great force.
Discharge from water utilization discharge facilities (holo-jet valves), such as river maintenance discharge
If you look downstream, you can catch a glimpse of the discharge.
Close-up of Hollow Jet Valve
If you move from the downstream side, you will see the hydraulic pipes first, but I wanted to go directly under the levee anyway, so I passed by this area. When I moved to the downstream side, I was surprised to see this discharge.
Anyway, "roar" is one word.
Discharge pipe above the valve
It is a thick hydraulic iron pipe. It looks quiet in the picture, but the roar is so great that it is hard to hear the conversation.
View of the embankment (lake side) from the right bank
Now, we left the hydraulic iron pipe behind and moved to the top end.
Water conduit for pumped-storage power generation from Tamahara Dam
The hydraulic iron pipe mentioned earlier seems to be for irrigation, but this is a gate for pumped-storage power generation. The strange building is said to be the gate operation room.
Selective water intake system
The water level seems to have been much lower.
Fujiwara Dam Management Office
The building of the administration office that looks fairly new.
Up at the gate
The gate is colored in pale blue, which is suitable for direct sunny weather.
Looking up at Gates Pier
Hmmm. I'd like to take a cooler shot. This is the limit for me.
View of the dam lake from the top
It is a beautiful day. But later in the evening and into the night, it rained.
View of the conduit from the top edge
I would like to see them released.
View downstream from the top
It is really mountainous area. It is a good season for fresh green.
Gate Pier No. 2
The sign that was visible from downstream looks even bigger when you reach the top edge. I'd like to take a cooler shot, but this is the limit for me.
View of the levee (downstream side) from the right bank
From here you can see that it is a pretty cool dam. Very stylish.

Other facilities/observations
This is the High Dam, visible just north of the water. From here, try to go further and further north. The distance is quite long and it is hard to go back, but I definitely recommend it.
