Read : Dam Card
Also known as -
Dam cards are cards that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Water Agency began distributing in conjunction with the 2007 Forest and Lake Friendship Season event, mainly to raise awareness. Although they are the same size as so-called trading cards, they do not have game elements, such as a game against each other.
Initially, dam cards were distributed at dams managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Water Agency, but they are now being distributed at some prefectural and other dams, showing their spread.
Although the media sometimes slam dam cards as a waste of money, they are not a waste of money considering the fact that ordinary citizens, who are unable to travel abroad or go away due to the recent recession, have come to know and collect these cards by accident, such as by driving, and this has led to awareness-raising.
They are also popular among children. Moreover, it is not only dam enthusiasts who collect dam cards.
