Location: Tominaga-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture
View of the embankment (dam lake) from the left bank
Tominaga Dam serves as a regulating reservoir for pumped-storage power generation at the Yahagi Power Plant, and is located between the Kuroda Dam (upper reservoir) and the Yahagi Dam (lower reservoir). As with the Kuroda Dam, the approach to the dam is extremely easy. If you are coming from the Nagoya area, simply turn left at the Odagi intersection on Route 153 in the opposite direction of the Kuroda Dam.

I had no idea that it was a dam, as the map I had on hand described it only as the Tominaga Regulating Pond. By chance (perhaps at the pumped storage facility or just passing by), I realized that it was a dam and decided to report on it.

The dam lake was surrounded by a tall wire fence, making it difficult to photograph. The photo on the left is also difficult to understand.

Even though it is downstream, there is almost no water flowing. It is thought that water is rarely discharged. However, a waterway is connected by a tunnel from the Kuroda Dam located upstream, and water is thought to flow there sequentially. However, the Kuroda Dam and Tominaga Dam are 1.8 km apart in a straight line. It can be imagined that the tunnel must be a very large tunnel. Furthermore, the Yahagi Dam downstream from here is also connected to the Kuroda Dam by a tunnel.

The dam lake was dug by human beings, and the excavated soil is said to be in a mountain nearby.
The wire mesh is still in the way.
A little old sign
There are hardly any visitors, but the sign is quietly tucked away. Personally, I would like more information.

Other facilities/observations
The "x" in the PR exhibition hall is a subtle one. In case you are wondering, there is a "pumped-storage power generation pavilion" at the Odaki intersection, but I put it on the Kuroda Dam.(Closed in 2005)
It is small in scale and is not even shown on maps, so it is a dam that stands quietly and unnoticed. The Kuroda Dam and the Yahagi Dam stand out from the rest, making it look like a middle-management group.
