The 10th Gathering with Dam Lovers in Misogawa Dam on Saturday, May 26, 2018 with dam curryThe "Mazda Global Forum" was held in Tokyo, and we would like to send you a report on the event.
Perhaps because this was a month when many events such as inspection and discharge were held at dams around the country, the number of participants was a little modest at 16.
Meeting place "Kodama Forest
This time, Misogawa Dam Curry will be specially revived at "Kodama-no Mori"! For those who wish to have that dam curry, this "Kodama-no-mori" will be the meeting place.
I had visited the nearby Yabuhara Kogen ski resort for snowboarding about 15 years ago, but this was my first visit to Kodama-no-mori. It is a facility where you can enjoy various activities, camping and barbecue, and many families were there.
Eating dam curry at the cafeteria
All those who wish to have dam curry are now present, so everyone will eat dam curry together.
Special limited revival! Misogawa Dam Curry!
Water levels surcharged! Some people were overflowing from the backwater! It was such a voluptuous dam curry. The fried chicken was crunchy and to my liking. The pickles, which seemed to be nozawana, were also delicious.
Misogawa Dam Management Office
After eating the dam curry, it was time to visit the dam. First, we were allowed to enter the control center, where we heard an overview of the Misogawa Dam and toured the operation room.
Tour of the permanent flood discharge gate
Leaving the control center, we visited the flood discharge. The permanent flood discharge is a tunnel type with a radial gate inside, but the entrance to the gate room turns out to be this building. I had thought it was a storage room or something.
Move to the downstream bank
Next we moved to the levee on the downstream side. We drove there, and it was a bit spectacular to see a dozen or so cars moving in a line along the road in the middle of the field. Too bad I couldn't take pictures because I was driving. We all took a commemorative photo here.
The event was tweeted on the Twitter account "FIVE ROCK'S" of the Chubu Branch of the Japan Water Agency.
The "Gathering of Dam Lovers in Misogawa Dam!
On May 26, dam enthusiasts came to visit the facility.
During the exchange of opinions with our fellow enthusiasts, a variety of opinions were exchanged, and we were able to rediscover the charm of the Misogawa Dam.
Thank you, enthusiasts, for your valuable input! pic.twitter.com/HUvLXvpDFe- FIVE ROCK'S (Water Resources Agency) (@jwa_FIVEROCKS) May 28, 2018
After the commemorative photo, we visited the old temporary drainage tunnel, the discharge valve, and the deepest part of the embankment through the audit corridor inside the embankment. At the far end of the old temporary drainage tunnel, we found the sake "Kisoji" made by the Yukawa Sake Brewery, a sake brewer in Kiso Village.
We regret that we cannot post photos of the interior as it is not open to the public, but if you are interested, please join us if there is a next time (lol).
Misogawa Dam Disaster Prevention Museum
Finally, the group moved to the museum for an exchange of opinions. What is the appeal of the Misogawa Dam? What should we do to attract a variety of visitors? The dam enthusiasts generally offered the following lively opinions.
- How about a test release after a sufficient notice period?
- The right bank observation deck is one of the parts of the attraction, so why not more directions to the observation deck?
- I wish they would do something about the grass and trees so that we can see the levee from the observation deck.
- Since the riprap is so overgrown with weeds and trees that it looks like an earth dam, why not have a goat weeding team come and compete with humans for weeding?
- Why not organize a levee climbing event?
Surely these opinions must be put to use! (I'm sure these opinions will be put to good use!)
Finish! Dismissal! Go to the right bank lookout after ......
The exchange of opinions meeting was over, and the whole process was complete. Thanks to everyone's cooperation, the event ended without incident.
And after all, I also believe that the Misogawa Dam's attraction is its observation deck, so I visited the observation deck after we broke up.
There were two non-participants ahead of us, one was pensive at the pavilion and one was setting up a telescope, perhaps for bird watching. Perhaps this is a spot that those who know about it know about.
As I looked at this scene, I thought, "I hope that many improvements will be made through this gathering, and that many visitors will come back to the Misogawa Dam and experience its charms. Oops! It is still an attractive dam, so if you have not visited it yet, please do so!
We would like to thank everyone at the Misogawa Dam Management Office and Kodama-no-mori for providing us with Misogawa Dam Curry.
To those of you who participated, we hope to see you again at some other end of the sky!
