Kamidake Dam is based in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.IBIDEN CorporationThe dam is dedicated to power generation and is owned by IBIDEN, Inc. When IBIDEN was first established, it was a hydroelectric power generation company under the name "Ibigawa Electric Power Co. Today, IBIDEN mainly deals in printed circuit boards and ceramic products. I have a relative who is an employee of IBIDEN, so I feel a little personally familiar with the company.

The dam is managed by IBIDEN, a private company, but the permit is obtained from the government because it is a first-class river.
View of the levee downstream from the left bank
The dam was completed in 1935, before the war, but it seems to have undergone a major renovation a while ago, and the concrete is white and beautiful. Before the construction, the dam was more mossy and the concrete had a rough texture. Some people may prefer the atmosphere before the construction work, but the rounded conduit still retains the atmosphere of the time when it was built.

The structure in this area is the same as before. The side holes are a concern, but in the past there may have been a gate and a structure to hold it in place.
View of the building on the left bank
It has an attached intake for power generation and is assumed to have valves and other equipment inside. Incidentally, this building also seems to have been cleaned up during the renovation.

The embankment has been cleaned up to the point of being too dazzling. It was feared that after the renovation work, the top railings, with their prewar design, might be altered (by whom?), but it seems that they were only painted beautifully, leaving the old design as it was.

Unfortunately, the top end of the dam is off-limits. Like the Kamidake Dam, the Kakimoto Dam (0965-Kakimoto Dam) in Yamanashi Prefecture, owned by a private company called Nippon Light Metal, reminds me of this dam, but this one is very different in that you can enter the top end. For safety reasons, let's just follow the rules here.
View of the embankment on the lake side from the left bank
It is a free overflow flood discharge, but from this viewpoint, it still appears that there was a gate. It also appears to have been a corner drop gate.

The reason for this is this slit area.
It is assumed that the board was inserted here, but I doubt it....
But if you look closely, you can see that the difference in the water surface is old concrete. This is a tasteful feature.

If you go any further upstream than this, you'll find that you'll getYashagaike PondThere is a legendary rain-making pond called (From the halfway point, you will have to go on foot along the trail.)

It is quietly standing........that kind of atmosphere is created.
Water intake and sand discharge gate View of
The building part is the intake and the one attached to the dike is probably the sand discharge gate.
Sand discharge gate (?)
Close-up of the sand discharge gate. From downstream you can see the gate opening, but the grass was too thick to see it....
Mitake Bridge
On the dam lake side, "Kandake Bridge" is written in Chinese characters. At least "Kamidakeweiror "Kamidake Dam"... but in the past, it may have been possible to cross to the other side of the river as usual.
bamboo bridge made of hair
The downstream side was written in hiragana.
... and it was Ibiden's Kamidake Dam, which was old but renewed and utilized.
