The first dam I picked up for my so-called first dam visit of 2010 was this Anno Dam, which I had been planning to visit since the end of the year. I had already researched that it is an irrigation dam for agriculture, so I thought it would not be flashy, but there is no denying that it is a magnificent dam.

It was cold and windy, with occasional whitecaps on the surface of the dam lake. The water made a chirping sound at the shore. Incidentally, the dam lake is called "Lake Shakujoko," and its name is derived from Mt. The name was probably given so that there would be no trouble with water. It is also said that when the water level drops, a stone dharma appears from the surface of the lake. It is a very spiritual dam.

The dike body has an orderly impression. It looks quite normal.

The words "Anno Dam" are written in bold, large, and firm letters. The letters on the first monument seem to have been written by the then Director General of the Tokai Agricultural Administration Bureau, but nothing is written on this one, so it is unclear who wrote it. Well, maybe a stone dealer (laugh).

I saw on some website that the top edge is off-limits to people, but there was nothing specific about it, except that automobiles are not allowed to enter.

Originally I would have liked to admire the height of the dam, but lately I don't really pay much attention to the height anymore. Maybe my eyes have become more discerning...it is 73 meters high...it would have been different if it had been over 100 meters...lol

The distance from the dike to the sub-dam seems long relative to its size. You can see a discharge of water below, but it is probably a river maintenance discharge.

From this photo, you can see that you can go directly under the dam. I took the road that runs on both sides of the road that you can see beyond the houses, but I did not go directly under the dam, but came to the top of the dam first because I was saving the fun for later. But I was already eager to go directly under the dam because the environment for shooting was getting worse as the sun was setting.

The photo was taken from around the selective water intake facility protruding from the top edge.

It is backlit to the fullest, but it is winter sunshine. Although the sun was out, it was cold and chilly...

This is also backlit. This dam can be seen from many angles.

Anno Dam Management Office

It seemed that someone was there, but I did not press the intercom because I thought they must be busy during the year-end and New Year holidays. I didn't press the intercom because I was too petty to press the button even if I wanted to (laugh).

I am not sure if there are any, but I regret now that I should have at least gotten a pamphlet....

The rightmost tower is an elevator facility (Hitachi, Ltd.), the rightmost gate is an emergency gate (1 gate/2.08 x 2.08m/Kuriki Ironworks), next is a flood discharge gate (3 steel radial gates/7.0 x 7.453 x 8.5m/24.675t/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries), and last is a selective water intake facility (1 steel The last is a selective intake system (1 steel roller gate / 3.6 x 7.3m, 5 steel slide gates / 1.65 x 1.65m / all Marushima sluice gate as intake gates).

The fact that the dam is not of the natural overflow type gives the impression of an older dam.

Now, we have moved downstream to the place you have been waiting for. The downstream area is dotted with houses, and you can always view the dam from downstream (whether you like it or not). My wife, who accompanied me, says, "Don't you want to live there?" (laugh).

It would have been nice if it were a little brighter, but the mountain on the left has completely stolen the sunlight. Well, if it were brighter, I would have suffered from backlighting this time, lol.
