The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Waterworks History will hold its annual public viewing of "Josuiki," a record of waterworks in the Edo period (Tangible Cultural Property (old document) designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government) from October 28 (Sat) to November 5 (Sun), in conjunction with Tokyo Cultural Properties Week.
Under the theme of "Edo's Waterworks Remains Underground," the exhibition will introduce the remains of Edo's waterworks discovered during construction and archaeological surveys, comparing them with the descriptions in the "Josuiki. The "Josuiki" will be open to the public only once a year.
The concurrent "Waterworks History Exhibition" will be held to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the completion of the Ogawachi Dam in 1957, and will feature a graphic panel display entitled "Water Storage and Waterworks" that will introduce the history of water storage since the Edo period, the planning, completion, and subsequent use of the Ogawachi Dam, with images and actual materials. This may be the main attraction for dam enthusiasts.
Why not take this opportunity to learn about the history of the Ogawachi Dam along with the history of water supply from the Edo period to the present day?
