The Japan Dam Awards 2017 were held on Sunday, December 17 at Tokyo Culture Culture in Shibuya, where the awards for Discharge Award, Low Water Management Award, Event Award, Flood Control Award, and Dam Grand Prize were announced.

Discharge Award (Which discharge left the most impression on dam fans?)Maruyama Dam (Gifu Prefecture, Japan)
As the construction of the new Maruyama Dam is about to begin in earnest, the frequent releases of water from all gates will soon be over.
Low Water Management Award (The dam with the most impressive drought endurance!): Sagami River System Comprehensive Operation (Kanagawa Pref.)
The four dams were recognized for working together to protect Kanagawa Prefecture from drought.
Event Award (The dam that held the most fan-pleasing event!)Yamba Dam (Gunma Prefecture)
After the headwinds of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) administration ended, the efforts of the various tours conducted this year were well received.
Flood Control Award (The dam that fought the most impressive battle against heavy rain!): Katsumoto Dam, Nenendake Dam (Nagasaki Pref.)
Although it was a small dam on Iki Island, it was recognized for its solid function and activity as a dam.
2017 Dam Awards (The Dam Most Remembered by People This Year!) :.Terauchi Dam (Fukuoka Prefecture)
The Terauchi Dam has been recognized for preventing damage from the torrential rains that hit Fukuoka this year.
