After enjoying the last snowboarding of the 2005/2005 season at a ski resort in the Ontake area, I stopped by the Ochiai Dam. I have had several chances to stop by the dam in the past, but on the way home from the ski resort, I was so tired and sleepy that I just wanted to go home as soon as possible. I was too tired and sleepy to stop by the dam on my way home from the ski resort, and I wanted to get home as soon as possible, so I didn't cover much of the dam. Also, I had no idea what was going on at the top edge of the dam because I did not try to look for it (grumble grumble grumble).

Ochiai Dam seems to be the second historical dam built on the Kiso River. Maybe anecdotes around Daido Power and Momosuke Fukuzawa will come up.... Sorry, I haven't researched much.
Not that it matters at all, but the gas-covered mountain in the back right corner of the photo is Mt. If the weather had been better, we could have seen Mt. Ena covered with snow, but alas.

You can see that the location of the photo shoot has not changed at all from earlier. Well, I'm sure I'll be revisiting the place sooner or later, but I wonder when that will be...
Incidentally, the Ochiai Dam has been selected by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers as one of the "2000 Most Important Civil Engineering Structures in Japan". It is such a great dam. And yet... and yet...

As one would expect from the second dam built on the Kiso River, the power plant also has a sense of history, or rather, charm.
