View of the downstream bank from the right bank
The day started with Imaichi Dam and ended with Kurobe Dam! Kurobe Dam is the largest dam in Japan in Toyama Prefecture.arch dam(Most people probably remember the Kurobe Dam (Kurobe Dam, Toyama), but this is Tochigi Prefecture. Kurobe Dam is also located in Tochigi Prefecture. It is "Japan's first concrete dam for power generation.
View of the top edge from the right bank
Naturally, I myself knew this and was quite looking forward to the day, but the shooting itself was difficult, perhaps because of the evening shooting conditions....
Unlike the Kurobe Dam in Toyama Prefecture, the Kurobe Dam in Tochigi Prefecture is smaller and older, but the taste is much better here.
emergency flood discharge
Net diameter x door height: 10m x 4m
Opening/closing speed: 0.3 m/min
Door weight: 18t
Date of production: December 1966
Production: Oshima Kogyo Co.
water intake
There is an intake for power generation beside the emergency flood discharge. There is a kind of loudspeaker at the top, which I thought was a little cute.
View of the embankment on the lake side from the left bank
There are a total of eight roller gates. However, there were 22 gates when it was completed in 1912, and they were reduced to 8 gates during the renovation work that began in 1987 due to aging.
View of the dam lake from the left bank
The sun has set considerably.
The water is moving well in this area because of its proximity to the water intake. The water is moving well in this area because it is close to the intake! I can feel the will to work from the dam lake.
View of the embankment from the left bank
So the conduit on the left side is from the time of construction, and the gate on the right side is from after the renovation.
View of the hydraulic pipe from the left bank
This hydraulic iron pipe also appears to have been added during the improvement work.
Flood discharge conduit
Probably not much use.
Close-up of stone plastering
It's nice. This feeling.
The conduit is the one that is old and has a nice flavor, but I missed the close-up of that one.
View of the monument and the levee
The gears are said to be part of the rack winders that have been in use for 77 years since the construction was completed in 1912. The monument is said to be a stone that washed up at this location during the Taisho era.
Incidentally, the Kurobe Dam has long been known as the "Kurobe Dam" because of its curved shape.gravity arch damThe model was "TEPCO's" type, but TEPCO's recognition of the model was "TEPCO's" type.gravity-fed concrete damSince this is a "gravity concrete dam" and there are many opinions that respect this, this site will also be positioned as a gravity concrete dam.
To tell you the truth, I wish it were so, because gravity arches are valuable, but w
View of the levee downstream from the right bank
Surprisingly, this dam is difficult to photograph. Well, maybe I just don't have the skill.
Discharge of water
It is nice to see these discharge scenes up close. I have only seen the whole gate discharge scene in pictures, but I would love to see it with my own eyes.
Sunset at Kurobe Dam
Well, it was a somewhat unsatisfying shoot, but I would like to visit the dam again someday..............................

Since it is not intended for tours, there is no parking lot, but there is space to manage to park on the shoulder of the road. There is a hot spring with an open-air bath nearby, so we recommend this dam in that sense as well.
