A new tunnel has been opened in the vicinity of the Iwaya Dam, providing better access.
Those who have not been here in several years may be surprised, so we hope you will check the map and come.
For those coming from Nagoya on Route 41...
A new tunnel has been opened beyond the Shimobara Dam.
5 km upstream from Shimobara Dam, turn left at the traffic light, and when you exit the tunnel, you will find yourself under the Iwaya Dam (Maze River No. 2 Dam). The distance is the same as the conventional route, but you can go through Shimobara Dam and Ofunato Weir.
This tunnel is also very convenient for those coming from the Takayama area on Route 41.
For those coming from Gujo-Hachiman Interchange on Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway
Route 256 Horikoshi Pass is closed day and night for construction.
After exiting the interchange, turn left at the traffic light (toward Gifu). 2.5 km of a large forest road is used as a detour route.
(After passing Genky and Netz Toyota, turn left immediately after passing under the overpass of the Nagara River Railway)
Since the road is originally better on this large forest road, there is no loss of time due to the detour.
Also, a new tunnel has opened near the Iwaya Dam (a different tunnel from the National Highway 41 tunnel mentioned above), which also leads to the bottom of the Iwaya Dam.
